2025 · Oka Luda · New look, art direction
As Kami, the game had found its audience, but no further. With Oka Luda, we wondered whether its look was keeping away people who might have loved it. Numbers, colours, the way information is organised: tested with non-gamers, the new version won them all over, and both now coexist. The lesson: art direction can remove many obstacles, but it cannot change a game’s nature.
Questions the project raised
- In a game that is all about spotting identical cards, what makes numbers and colours obvious to a non-gamer?
- Both looks coexist: how do you present the second without making it a correction of the first?
