Colt Express
A three-dimensional train, both the first argument on the shelf and the board itself. Spiel des Jahres 2015.
2014 · Ludonaute · Art direction, 3D train, illustrations, film
Context
A programming game by Christophe Raimbault, mainly illustrated by Jordi Valbuena: each player plans their actions, which then resolve all together. The cardboard train, assembled car by car, is the board.
What was at stake
At fairs as in shops, the three-dimensional train catches the eye before anyone reads a rule. It then had to stay readable during play: where the bandits, the loot and the marshal are, at a glance and from a distance.

Results
Spiel des Jahres 2015, then As d’Or, Juego del Año, Gioco dell’Anno, Gouden Ludo and Lys Grand Public. Four Golden Geek nominations, including best artwork and presentation. Then a long life of expansions, up to a certain “time machine”, a nod to Back to the Future Part III that became a sought-after little expansion.
