Deus
Ninety-six cards with combining effects: an iconography designed so the game is played by reading the cards, not the rulebook.
2014 · Pearl Games · Art direction, iconography, UX, logotype
Context
A civilisation game by Sébastien Dujardin: cities, trade routes, temples, the favour of the gods. Ninety-six building cards whose effects combine from turn to turn.
What was at stake
Part of the game relies on stacking cards: the question was which information stays visible once covered. The highly structured iconography turns each card into its own instructions.
